Hello, and welcome to TEDxYouth@AgouraHills. In the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic, the idea for this event came to fruition. This endeavor has given us a platform to more thoroughly explore our two primary goals. The first is to provide a sense of hope, knowledge, and optimism toward our community of Agoura Hills. I have personally seen the challenges and difficulties this neighborhood has had to overcome; not only in recent months, but over the past few years. The second goal is to create a space for students' to have a voice, while sharing their passions, ideas, and perspectives. With our TEDxYouth event, we hope to provide entertainment in the form of new and relevant ideas, some that may even change the way we view ourselves and our community. So often students’ opinions are overlooked and underappreciated. My intention was to create an environment for my peers to discuss their viewpoints based on personal life experiences. Thus, the theme is student perspective. There is no range on the topics that can be discussed, with our presenters speaking on diverse subjects such as science, education, community outreach, and sports. Please view this event with an open and engaged mindset, and once again, welcome to TEDxYouth@Agoura Hills.

This TEDx event will be virtual. Students will record their presentation, and these will be compiled into a video which will be posted on the date of the event. This is to ensure the safety and health of both presenters and audience members.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxYouth@AgouraHills, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxYouth@AgouraHills event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.
The annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Vancouver, British Columbia. TED's media initiatives include TED.com, where new TED Talks are posted daily; TED Translators, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed. TED has established The Audacious Project that takes a collaborative approach to funding ideas with the potential to create change at thrilling scale; TEDx, which supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self- organized TED-style events around the world, and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
